First performed at la Fenice in March 1853, the three-act opera by Guiseppe Verdi is inspired by The Lady of the Camellias. Alexandre Dumas' fils play. Verdi's Opera is the narration of the tragic love story between Violetta Valery, a famous Parisian courtesan of the 18th century, and Alfredo Germont, a higher middle-class young man.
