The 7th Annual La Jolla Motor Car Classic presented by the La Jolla Historical Society moves from January to its new date on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to increase the chances of pleasurable weather. This year’s show will take place at the Ellen Scripps Browning Park, overlooking the renowned La Jolla Cove and featuring over 150 automobiles in 30 specialty car classes.
“Moving the show to April will limit the chance the rain and make for a much milder climate”, says Trip Bennett, Co-Chair of the La Jolla Motor Car Classic Committee. “The La Jolla Motor Car Classic has become a highly anticipated show for car enthusiasts around the nation and now with a prime springtime date, it will attract a higher caliber of automobiles.”
The featured marque for this year is German Automobiles. In addition the specialty car classes awards, this juried show will be also be recognizing winners in the following categories; a Winner’s Circle award (comprised of prior Best of Show and Best in Class winners), Director’s Choice, People’s Choice, Best in Show, Best in Restoration, and Excellence in Design. Celebrating the collector classics in America’s Finest City, the event will showcase top stateside automobiles, including Mercedes Benz Sedans, Auburn Speedsters, Jaguar Roadsters, Chevy Corvettes, Shelby Cobras, Packards, Ford Mustangs and Ferraris.
Preceding the show itself will be a book signing on Friday, April 1 and a catered lunch plus car tour of San Diego's top car collector locales on Saturday, April 2. Tickets to the Sunday Show are $35 in advance and $40 at the entrance. The registration fee to show your automobiles is $100 and all entrants must register by March 1, 2011 at LaJollaMotorCarClassic.com; The Classic is a juried show and entries are limited, so exhibitors are encouraged to register early.
Proceeds benefit the La Jolla Historical Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to the discovery, collection and preservation of La Jolla's heritage.
