La Jolla Cove, La Jolla, CA – It’s the 6th Annual La Jolla Motor Car Classic! This annual event has become a beloved way for car aficionados, spectators, friends, families and everyone in between to enjoy all that magnificent La Jolla has to offer, while observing some of the most coveted, collectable automobiles of yesterday and today! Come join us on the gorgeous lawn of La Jolla Cove, overlooking the majestic Pacific Ocean on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a day of classic automobiles, breathtaking scenic views and great entertainment. This year, the La Jolla Motor Car Classic will celebrate the automobiles of Carroll Shelby. Race Car Automotive Hall of Fame inductee Carroll Shelby’s vision to combine a lightweight European chassis with American V8 power resulted in one of the greatest and fastest sports cars ever constructed - the Shelby Cobra. He produced numerous coveted collectors’ items such as Mustangs, Cobras and GT 40’s, in conjunction with Ford until 1968 and continues to aid Ford in its 2009 Mustang. It is safe to say that he has been lending his name to producing high performance cars for over forty years. In addition to these American masterpieces, spectators of the La Jolla Motor Car Classic will also enjoy British, Italian and German marques, along with horseless carriages, CCCA Classics, Woodies, specialty makes, models, vintage motorcycles and many other classics. Participants in the show will compete for trophies in ten specialty car classes, including Excellence in Design, Director’s Choice and Best in Show. You too can get involved by casting your vote for the People’s Choice Award. Be sure to visit the prior winners of the Winner’s Circle Award, made up of past Best of Show and Best in Class winners or take a moment to appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship of select collectors as we pay tribute to the art of restoration. As an additional bonus, this year we are excited to invite our event entrants the opportunity to participate in the La Jolla Motor Car Classic Tour on Saturday, January 9th, 2009. Catch over 60 magnificent vehicles touring around town through some of San Diego’s most celebrated automotive sites including the San Diego Automotive Museum, Evans Garage, Only Yesterday, Cavallo Motor Sports and more, while cruising almost 70 miles of San Diego’s most scenic locations along the way! This year’s event is brought to you by the La Jolla Historical Society, who serves as an advocate for La Jolla’s heritage by discovering, collecting, and preserving the community’s historical documentation, artifacts, sites and structures. Tickets to the La Jolla Motor Car Classic are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the show, and children 13 and under are free.
