To celebrate the importance of locally grown and harvested food, La Condesa will host the Sustainable Food Center Chef Series on Sunday, April 15th from 6:30-10:00pm with a cocktail reception from 5:30-6:30pm with hor d’oeuvres from La Condesa’s executive chef Rene Ortiz and cocktails by La Condesa mixologist Nate Wales. Austin’s most exciting and innovative chefs will be on hand to prepare an exquisite multi-course tasting menu featuring fresh meats and produce from the Austin Farmers’ Market, as well as local area farms and suppliers, to be accompanied with drink pairings from some of Austin’s most innovative mixologists.
“We are honored to continue hosting the SFC Chef Series,” says La Condesa owner Jesse Herman. “We strive to offer our patrons the best farm fresh and local foods, much of which is purchased from vendors who sell at Austin Farmers' Market. We strongly support SFC's work in the community and are thrilled to help them promote the benefits of buying from local growers and ranchers and of supporting small businesses in the community.”
Participating chefs include: Jesse Griffiths, executive chef at Dai Due; Andrew Wiseheart, executive chef at Contigo; Shawn Cirkiel, executive chef at Olive & June; Ned Elliot, executive chef at Foreign & Domestic; James Holmes, executive chef at Lucy’s; and Jessica Maher, pastry chef at Lenoir.
“Sustainable Food Center is thrilled to partner with La Condesa, bringing together outstanding Austin chefs who each demonstrate a commitment to supporting Austin Farmers' Market growers, ranchers and food artisans,” says SFC Executive Director Ronda Rutledge. “By attending this fundraiser for SFC's programs, guests are supporting those in our community without access to healthy, local food.”
The Sustainable Food Center is devoted to sustainably grown and humanely harvested food that supports local farms and cultivates a healthy community. From seed to table, the Sustainable Food Center creates opportunities for individuals to make healthy food choices and to participate in a vibrant local food system.
