Meet some of the wonderful members of the animal kingdom through Saint-Saëns’ famous Carnival of the Animals! Each musical movement captures the essence of a particular animal – will you recognize them all? This beloved work is an all-time favorite for introducing children to classical music. To add to the fun, LACO has invited budding authors from 826LA’s writing program to create the poems.
Drop in anytime from 1 to 2 pm for LACO’s Instrument Petting Zoo! Get inspired by artist Alexander Calder to create your own carnival of animals using wire with the Kidspace Children’s Museum. Embellish your animal figures with beads, fabric scraps, paper, colored tape and more while learning about Calder and his wire-inspired circus. The LA Zoo comes to you! Learn more about the animal kingdom with “touchables” and other peeks into the wild.
The concert features Jeffrey Kahane, conductor, Felix Jen, piano, Kazumi Kanagawa, piano and Alan Chapman, host playing Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals.
