The tenth edition of the L.A. Dance Invitational will be held at the Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 6. The evening of extraordinary dance will include eleven performances and the Stanley Holden Award presentation to the legendary Yvonne Mounsey.
This year, the LADI showcases the choreography of dance makers from Southern California and New York. All the works are new to Los Angeles, and represent styles from ballet to modern and tap to lyrical jazz. The program includes:
Marie de la Palme, MotionTribe – “Museum” featuring Fabienne Levenson, Melissa Sandvig, Ben Sayles, Marica Pendjer, Evan Strand, Evan Swenson
Lula Washington, Lula Washington Dance Theatre – “Urban Man” (reprise of a piece performed in the inaugural LADI)
Malathi Iyengar, Rangoli Dance Company – “Gifts of the River” featuring Lakshmi Iyengar and Sandhya Rajan
Adam Parson, Commonality Dance Company – “Fend” featuring Ragon Miller, Hannah Jade Hightower, Candis Fox, Arody Trujillo, Michael Stein, Joe Beauregard and Chris Fedun
Holly Rothschild, Invertigo Dance Theatre – “Those Two” featuring Greg Barnett and Alexa Karshner (with live music by String Theory)
Steve Zee, LA Ironworks – “Steve Zee/Taps & Pandeiro”
Nick Ross, Nicholas Andre Dance (New York) – “…and again” featuring Tommy Scrivens and Trista Jennings (duet) and Cat Cogliandro (solo)
Sara Silkin, Paradox Dance – “Au Suivant” featuring Jonthan Corps, Kelli Mckee, Samantha Mohr, Shane Raiford, Zak Schegal and Sara Silkin
