Ocean Key Resort & Spa’s Sunset Pier
Jamey Johnson with the Kent Hardly Play Boys
plus Raul Malo and Robert Earl Keen
Artist and songwriter Jamey Johnson (“In Color” and George Strait’s “Give it Away”) will throw his Grammy-nominated vintage country cool into the mix. With his band the Kent Hardley Play Boys, Johnson will headline a concert 9pm on Saturday, May 2nd at Ocean Key Resort’s Sunset Pier, located at the end of famed Duval Street. Grammy award-winner Raul Malo will join the red letter bill, marking the second consecutive year he has brought his awe-inspiring croon and Latin-tinged retro goove to the festival. Also joining is Robert Earl Keen, who is among the large contingent of talented songwriters who emerged in Texas in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He struck an unusual balance between sensitive story-portraits (“Corpus Christi Bay”) and raucous barroom fun (“That Buckin’ Song”). These two song types in Keen’s output were unified by a mordant sense on humor that strongly influenced the early practitioners of what would become known as alternative country music. Advance tickets available at www.keystix.com or 305-295-7676 for $10. The admission will be $12 the date of the show at the door.
