Chicago jazz vocalist Kurt Elling may be the last 'hep cat' left in the mainstream jazz world. His signature mix of high-flying poetry and jazz improvisation evokes comparisons to the Beat poets of the !60s with the added vocal ingenuity of the Manhattan Transfer and Bobby McFerrin. Beginning his career in music in 1995, he has quickly risen to become one of jazz's most talented and celebrated vocalists - earning his first Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 2010 for his album 'Dedicated to You: Kurt Elling Sings the Music of Coltrane and Hartman.'
