The organisers of the Calcutta Book Fair will shut the gates if the number of people at the Milan Mela venue crosses 250,000. The gates will then be opened only after the headcount drops “substantially”.

“The state government has told us that 100 buses ..... would be used to ferry people from various parts of the city to the book fair. The maximum fare has been fixed at Rs 10,” said Tridib Chatterjee, the guild secretary.
According to a plan, the buses would ply from Behala, Sealdah, Howrah, Tollygunge and Sinthee to the book fair.
