The Kojo Nnamdi Show is pleased to announce that the Kojo in your Community radio series is back !!
KIYC live TownHall Style Meetings will happen in MD, VA, and DC, every month from February thru July 2006. The meetings bring together the community to focus on issues of importance to the region (ie -- housing, education, transportation, crime, race and ethnic issues, etc.) Each evening will contain two one-hour tapings of programs on related topics.
The first KIYC of 2006 is happening on Tuesday February 28 -- at All Souls Unitarian Church at the corner of 16th and Harvard Streets, NW, DC. We'll be talking about the District's Changing Housing Market and how/whether it is impacting demographics and the 'sense of community' people feel in DC's neighborhoods. The event is free and open to the public and there is no pre-registration required, just be sure to be there when doors open at 6:30 because taping will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.
If you've never seen Kojo in action before a live crowd, I hope you'll attend. In addition to being amazed at his finesse working a crowd, you'll also get an up-close opportunity to meet listeners and see how passionately they feel about the services the radio station provides. (Though we were on hiatus for the past 18 months or so, we've been hosting Kojo in your Community -- and before that WAMU in your Ward -- since 2001)
If you can't make it to the first event, put these dates into your calendar to make it to a future Kojo in your Community event:
Tuesday March 28 -- at Oseh Shalom Synagogue in Laurel MD
Tuesday April 25 -- at George Mason High School in Falls Church Virginia
May, June & July dates are TBD.
