KIRTAN

Come together to sing expressive, devotional, chanting based on the North Indian Raga form. Join Karl and Kevin Cole on tabla with others and you, the Kirtan Chorus, in a participatory sound immersion.

A delicious exploring of sound and tone, seed syllables and collective voice, finding our One, intrinsically open Heart.

Karl has studied north Indian Classical voice with Pandit Mukesh Desai, a disciple of Pandit Jasraj (for their music see http://www.yoganexus.com/home/d5/music ). Karl has also studied with Shabda Kahn, Silvia Nakkach, Ali Akbar Khan and Shweta Jaweri (also a disciple of Pandit Jasraj). Karl has also studied the healing nature of sound and incorporates sound in his yoga asana classes.

Kevin studies tabla with Pandit Swapan Chaudhury, was a music major and has spent much time in ashrams living the practice of bhajans (devotional lyrical poems).

They are joined by others, sometimes cello, violin, percussion, flute... bring your joy, bring your instrument...
