KIND OF BLU JAM:
Where to find the best jazz band in town on Wednesday night other than Blu Jaz Cafe? Every Wednesday, come catch the blissful jazzy sound of Eddie Layman on drums and Christy Smith on bass.
To top it off with some classy chops, we'll be rotating the pianist to give it a fresh twist every week and first up will be the veteran instrumentalist/pianist Joshua Wan on piano!
Jam Sessions are an old Jazz tradition, and serve several important functions in the Jazz community. They allow emerging players to test their skills in front of an audience. Jam sessions also provide an opportunity for "cutting contests" where musicians vie for dominance by comparing their imaginations and improvisational skills in a live face-to-face situation. Also, Jam sessions allow musicians new to the area to network, and show what they have to offer.
