Sponsored by Kohl’s, Best Buy, and St. John’s Mercy Behavioral Health, the family-friendly, uplifting event features food, games, team competitions, arts and crafts, beach volleyball, live music, and a memorial walk. “Kids Walking for Kids” will include resource booths and information on the various programs offered by CHADS. The evening will be capped off with a fireworks display generously donated by Gateway Fireworks Displays.
“Kids Walking for Kids” is the largest youth suicide prevention event of its kind in the Midwest. Nearly 1,500 will gather at the event, some to remember those they have lost to suicide and all to celebrate everything they are doing to end it. By bringing the community together, CHADS will deliver the message to youth of all ages that they are not alone, there is help, there are options, there is hope! Drawing attention to a problem that exists but is rarely spoken about, this event helps give teens a voice and opens the door to finding help—for themselves, their friends and ones they love.
All of the money raised at “Kids Walking for Kids” goes to medical research to detect early onset depression. A $25 donation is greatly appreciated.
