Camp Information
• Classes are for children ages 6-12 and are limited to 25 participants.
• Cost is $50 per session, or $180 for four sessions. Lunch is an additional
$5 per person, per day.
• Registration deadline is June 4, 2010. Payment is due at registration. Parents/
guardians will receive an email conirmation if an e-mail address is provided.
• Drop-off/pick-up location is the Jefferson Davis Campus gymnasium.

Session I: 8:30 - 10 a.m.
• Art Knows Anything Goes
Children ages 9 to 12 are invited to experience pottery making and
different hand-building techniques to create pottery that will make
great keepsakes for display in the home. You’ll need to bring a clean
towel and apron each day.
• Fact or Fiction
Do you wonder what’s true…and what’s not? Find the answers by
investigating common and not-so-common myths.
• Snack Attack
Want to make your house the coolest place on the block? Learn
how to prepare appealing appetizers, decadent desserts and yummy
breakfast treats, all from scratch.
• Tennis Anyone?
Want to serve like Rodger or Serena? Develop the skills needed to partici-
pate in this healthy and lifelong sport by learning the proper techniques for
grip, footwork and serving. Plus, learn the rules and etiquette of the game.
Bring a tennis racket, and wear tennis shoes.
• Who Done It
It’s elementary, my dear Watson! Become a detective like Sherlock
Holmes and solve mysteries. Join your classmates in solving a crime
from start to inish using ingerprints, secret codes, clues, disguises
and other investigative techniques. Put your skills to the test and
unravel the puzzle!
Session II: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m.
• Become a Math Genius
Did you know that math could be fun and exciting? It sure can! Learn
different problem-solving strategies and have fun solving math word
problems.
• Mighty Fit Kids
Learn how much fun exercise can be. This camp offers instruction
in vigorous, yet safe exercises allowing children to positively expand
their natural energy while enhancing overall itness.
• Mosaics
Small pieces of rock, stone, paper, tile and other items make large
pieces of art called mosaics. Create your own beautiful stepping
stones, frames and trinket boxes.
• Mysteries in History
Go on your own Mystery Quest to uncover the secrets of historical
mysteries. Who built Stonehenge and why? Where are the Seven
Wonders of the World, and who decided they were wonderful?
What happened to the people of Easter Island? How did the
Egyptians build the pyramids? These and other mysterious events
in history make learning an exciting process and introduce you to
intriguing events from the past.
Session III: 12:30 - 2 p.m.
• Balloon Art
This is not just a sport for clowns anymore. Now, you’ll have the
chance to make an animal or a hat…all out of balloons. Learn and
enjoy the fun of balloon creativity.
• It’s a Pirate’s Life
Have hook will travel? Start by investigating the “real” life of a pirate.
Analyze the commercialized version of piracy and compare it to the
reality. Answer the questions of why people like Stede Bonnet, a
respected businessman, became pirates. Learn about famous female
pirates like Anne Bonney and Mary Read. ARRRRRe you ready,
matey? Then hoist the mainsail, and get ready for adventure!
• Junior Photography
Photography is more than making someone say “cheese.” It’s
also effective camera operation, perspective, creative lighting and
composition. Learn all this – and more. Bring your camera…and
an eye for that just-right photograph! (List camera type on your
registration form.)
• Keeping the Funk
Love hip-hop music and dancing? Then you’ll love this camp, where
you’ll learn some of the coolest hip-hop and hottest break-dancing
moves. Wear comfortable clothes!
• Tae Kwon Do
Kick it up a notch and learn the basic skills of this fast-paced and
exciting Korean martial art. It’s a high-action sport that teaches
respect, self-esteem, perseverance, integrity and self-control.
Session IV: 2:15 - 3:45 p.m.
• Art From A-Z
Ever wish you could paint like a caveman, or maybe create your own
piece of modern art? Now you can! Learn about a variety of artwork,
plus create art each day that will represent art’s different time periods.
• Broadway Bound
Get a glimpse of Broadway musicals as you learn, choreograph and
perform scenes from your favorite shows. We’ll end the week with a
live performance starring…you!
• Dig Those Dinos!
Fossils, dinosaurs, buried treasure… Learn what it’s like to be a
paleontologist on a dig, searching for the next great dinosaur fossil
discovery. Find out about all these larger-than-life creatures and how
scientists search for their remains. You’ll even have the chance to
uncover buried dinosaur bones!
• Karaoke Connection
So you want to be a pop star? You’ll have the opportunity to rewrite
the words and sing revisions to classic songs, serve as a backup singer
to other students, design and draw CD covers, and work with the
class to digitally record your own customized classic songs. This camp
is sure to go platinum!
• Wacky Sports
Learn how to jump rope, hula hoop, play ping pong and other wacky
sports while developing your team-building skills. This camp is fun for
everyone!
