"When I'm 64!..." Smokey Bear turns 64 this year and he's coming to Mounds State Park on Saturday, July 26th to celebrate. Many activities are planned for the day including carnival games with prizes, crafts, s’mores, and a fire engine to tour. Firefighters and EMS personnel from the local fire department will be on hand to talk fire safety and showoff their cool emergency vehicles. See below for the schedule:
11:00am-PARTY HATS- What birthday is complete without party hats? Join Smokey in the campground to make a party hat to wear for the afternoon’s events! Behind Campground Showers
1:00pm-3:00pm-SMOKEY BEAR’S KIDDY CARNIVAL- Come enjoy the pre-party fun with cool party games, face painting, crafts, prizes and more! There may even be an appearance by Smokey Bear himself! In front of Visitor Center (If there’s rain, we’ll move it indoors!)
3:00pm-BIRTHDAY CARDS- Make a special card for Smokey Bear to give him at the party! Visitor Center
3:30pm-SMOKEY ARRIVES AND THE PARTY BEGINS- Meet the big guy himself at his birthday party, eat cookies and hear the exciting story of Smokey Bear! Visitor Center
Carnival games take one ticket to play and tickets cost 10¢ or 10 for $1. All other programs are free and open to the public. Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
