Vancouver-based Kidd Pivot will present six performances in the Doris Duke Theatre of Crystal Pite’s Lost Action. Inspired in part by reading her great-uncle’s letters from World War Two, Pite explores loss, war, and disappearance in this 70-minute work that the Georgia Straight described as "the kind of audacious, witty work that makes you excited about dance.” The soundscape, created by fellow British Columbian Owen Belton, features everything from choral melody to ukulele and spoken word. Pite, who will perform with the company, has been called one of the smartest international dancemakers of today.
Free Pre-Show Talks will introduce audiences to Pite’s choreography, and a Friday evening Post-Show Talk will give audience members a chance to talk directly with her. Crystal Pite will teach a master class for Pillow students, staff, and the public on August 23.
