A collection of paintings exhibited by Jeremy Ramsey
Be mesmerized by the vibrancy of Jeremy Ramsey’s paintings, an avid artist who has been devoted to his craft over the last two decades. Apart from being the Honorary President of the Modern Art Society of Singapore, Jeremy is also an internationally renowned artist, having exhibited his paintings all across Asia, Australia and Britain.
Principally known for his colourful paintings, his works reflect modernist art elements inspired by Picasso and Matisse. As a British-born Singaporean who has lived in Singapore since 1956, Jeremy’s paintings draw much influence from his life experiences in the east, as he uses colour as a central theme, expressing his emotions and feelings in a free-spirited manner.
KHRŌMA: Hues of the Subconscious Mind is a collection of paintings that explore subject matters such as the figure, still life and landscape in a unique and abstract manner. From the depths of his subconscious mind, Jeremy gathers thoughts and emotions that come together with his memories, reflecting an ethereal quality in his paintings that is signature to his style.
Through his intimate relationship with his material and medium, various cultural aspects emerge in Ramsey’s work from aboriginal to African art. Finally, it is only a deep understanding and assimilation of many years of explorations in the world of art and aesthetics that has allowed Jeremy’s canvases to burst forth alive with such colour and depth.
