Minnesota Public Radio presents the release of Kevin Klings new book The Dog Says How at the Fitzgerald Theater on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:30 p.m. Kevin Kling delivers hilarious, often tender stories to readers everywhere with his first book, The Dog Says How. Klings autobiographical tales are as enchanting as they are true to life: hopping freight trains, getting hit by lightning, performing his banned play in Czechoslovakia, growing up in Minnesota, and eating things before knowing what they are.
Humorist and playwright, Kevin Kling describes his zodiac sign as "Minnesota with Iowa rising," and his accent and parlance could be right off the set of the movie "Fargo." His storytelling started when a friend, from the now defunct Brass Tacks Theatre, asked him to perform his stories. Since then he has gone on to be awarded just about every prestigious arts grant and fellowship. The National Endowment for the Arts, The McKnight Foundation, The Minnesota State Arts Board, The Bush Foundation, The Jerome Foundation and others have all recognized Kevins artistry.
Kevin will be joined on stage by The Brass Messengers , a Minneapolis/St. Paul outfit of ten that plays whatever sort of music they can fit into their horns. Based around the Gypsy Brass styles of Romania, The Brass Messengers have added their own take on American Country Music, Latin American Dance Rhythms and Afro-Pop.
All tickets are $15.00. Minnesota Public Radio members receive a discount.
