Born in New York City, Kevin Dorn took up drumming at the age of 14. Since then, he has become one of the busiest drummers in traditional jazz. A solid timekeeper in the tradition of Cliff Leeman, Kevins exciting career has included performances with artists such as Dan Barrett, Ed Polcer, Johnny Varro, Bob Wilber, Dan Levinson and Howard Alden. Kevin has performed with the Loren Schoenberg Big Band, The Flipped Fedoras, New Orleans Hot Jazz, and many others.Kevin has played at jazz festivals and jazz parties throughout the country, including the JVC Jazz Festival, Jazz at Chautauqua and the Los Angeles Sweet and Hot Music Festival. Kevin has also toured Japan with the New York Ragtime Orchestra. Kevins own band, the Traditional Jazz Collective (TJC), has received praise from The New York Times, The Mississippi Rag, The Smithsonian Magazine, and Cadence Magazine. They perform every Monday night at The Cajun in New York City and have also appeared at concerts, festivals and new Yorks famed Rainbow Room. Kevin has taught drumming at the Mangattan School of Music, the United Nations International School, and the Stanford Summer Jazz Workshop.
