Making her Penn’s Peak debut, Kellie Pickler!!
Kellie has proven that hard work and determination can get you from small town, North Carolina to the American Idol stage to the top of the country charts. Her latest album, 100 Proof, exemplifies her desire to not be just a singer, but to be an artist. As Kellie says, “When I auditioned for American Idol I was not an artist.” So ever since then, with each album she completes, she finds herself becoming more and more of an artist. All of her songs are personal; she wants to be just like her heroes, Dolly, Loretta and Tammy. The only way to truly connect with an audience and fans is to let them in on your private life. Honesty will always trump privacy when songwriting is involved and Kellie makes every effort to connect with her fans.
Kellie’s story is a familiar one to her legions of fans. She was raised by her grandparents due to an absentee mother and a father who was in jail. The tiny town of Albemarle, NC was where she grew up, but American Idol opened the door for her to start making her dreams come true. Her debut album was Small Town Girl and it featured her sassy hit “Red High Heels.” On her latest album, Kellie co-wrote the majority of the songs. “Mother’s Day” and “The Letter” are two highly personal songs on the album that Kellie’s glad to share with her fans. “I really do think that music heals. It has healed me in so many ways and I want to write about it. My life is a country song.”
