Ahead of the curve of New York's burgeoning multi-genre intermix KELLI RUDICK will play The Ruby Room in San Diego on June 12th, 2009. The show features Kelli's virtuosic, complex and inimitable solo guitar work, as well as a one-woman sonic immersion created with guitars, loop station, array mbira, and nail violin. The indie / neo-classical artist has played shows in New York and across the country, including New York's the Knitting Factory, Blue Note and Joe's Pub; LA's Hotel Cafe; Seattle's Triple Door; and San Francisco's Cafe Du Nord. She recently completed her second US tour as well as an appearance at the Mother Music Festival in Tel Aviv. Kelli returns to California for engagements in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, where she will headline a stellar line-up of musicians and songwriters at The Ruby Room in Hillcrest.
Joining Kelli for this show is MANUOK, which creates gorgeously crafted, experimental, indie folk music, incorporating synthetic sounds. Songs swell with emotion as guitars and strings rise and fall, and others inspire adrenaline rushes with electronics. The San Diego band has recently released it's second record "No End To Limitations." Just back from a European tour Manuok has recorded with Black Heart Procession, The Album Leaf, Mr. Tube, and Via Satellite.
Special guests on the bill include JFK, the latest band from Manuok and ex-Rochelle Rochelle member Erik Berg. JFK released their first record "Winter Count” in Spring of 2008 and has been stunning California audiences with powerful live shows. Solo artist WENDY BAILEY, along the lines of PJ Harvey, channels a similar power and presence in her live solo set to open the show.
