July 24 through August 22, 2010 at ArtZone 461 Gallery
ArtZone 461 Gallery is pleased to celebrate the start of its third year on Valencia Street with two new solo shows for Keith Gaspari and Heidi McDowell. Brian Tepper's wood sculptures will also be featured throughout the Galleries during these shows.
There is no magic formula for turning craft into fine art; some see little or no difference. If there were a formula, Keith Gaspari is a candidate for having found one. His latest series of colored pencil portraits affirm a maturity and evolution of the artist's vision.
Gaspari's portraits provide a mechanism to experience multi-faceted individuals as they are: made of many faces that compose a singular persona. The artist presents people in a confident manner displaying his belief that our lives are complex and our visage reveal existence and experiences beyond one-dimensional personalities. The fact that these are rendered in colored pencil allows the viewer a transformational experience, one that verifies these truly are works of fine art.
Reception for the artists Saturday July 24, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Gallery Hours: 12-6 pm Wednesday-Sunday, occasional evenings, anytime by appointment
