Described by Dance Magazine as “clean and sharp, geometric and postmodern… a thrill to watch,” New York based company KDNY returns to Dance Place for its third season with Charges from Domremy, a powerful work performed to Richard Einhorn’s renowned oratorio Voices of Light. Inspired by the female hero Joan of Arc, a cast of thirteen dancers depict her turbulent tale from the divine voices that led her into battle to her subsequent capture and condemnation by the English. A contemporary dance company comprised of virtuosic female dancers, KDNY is dedicated to the exploration of the passions and intricacies of the female spirit. Since 1997, the company has performed a vast repertory of poignant dances that combine live original music with a movement vocabulary that is charged with athleticism and grace.
