Kaya means "enlightenment" and was likewise the title of one of Bob Marley's albums. Its also the name of an 8 - 10 piece band that pays tribute to the profound and beautiful music of the legendary Bob Marley. Lead singer Andrew "Zion" Carty (a Trenchtown, Jamaican native) captures the Bob Marley spirit and not only sounds eerily similar to Marley but spent his youth being mentored by Marley himself. The band includes 2 smooth and lively female vocalists, a horn section, guitarists, keys, bass, drums and percussion.
Kaya provides a note for note chronological history of the Bob Marley songbook, from 'Catch a Fire', his first for Island Records, to his posthumous release 'Confrontation'. Marley's catalogue of songs range from songs of hope, songs of defiance and songs of freedom. Due to Marley's untimely death in 1981 at the tender age of 36 few have experienced the Marley mystique live. Come and experience Kaya with a nostalgic look back at the Man, his legendary songs and his timeless music.
Truly an amazing band.
