Kansas City Symphony: Stern Conducts Dvorak & Haydn May 1, 2011

Join Michael Stern and the Symphony in a celebration of the Earth beginning with Haydn's 'The Representation of Chaos' from The Creation, a gripping musical account of the primordial bedlam that reigned before the birth of the world. Milhaud takes a different vantage point with a jazz-inflected ballet based on an African creation story. Percussionist Martin Grubinger performs Avner Dorman's Frozen in Time, a work the composer calls 'an imaginary snapshot of the Earth's geological developments from prehistoric times to the present day.' Dvorak's thrilling and masterful symphony provides a capstone to this titanic program.
