Three beautiful and evocative masterworks fill this concert. Mahler never wrote more lyrical and wonderfully nostalgic music than in the Symphony No. 4, which ends with the simple song of a child dreaming of life in heaven. Ravel paid homage to his great French predecessor Francois Couperin with an exquisite imagining of the Baroque era in his scintillating orchestral suite.
