In 2006 Rolling Stone listed Kaki King as one of "The New Guitar Gods," a list on which she was not only the the youngest artist, but also the only woman. The guitarist and composer is known for her jazz melodies on multiple types of guitars and a fingerstyle playing that combines fret-tapping with slap bass methods. She also uses the guitar for percussion, as well as sound layering and looping.
