Justin opened his mouth one day and hasn't closed it for 26 years. What comes out of it is almost always too loud, and may sometimes surprise you, maybe even stop to make you think or feel something you'd lost touch with or forgotten about, but most of the time, you're left trying to sort out which parts to bring home with you and which to sprinkle like kitty litter on time's bar floor and step over on your way out the door. But even the kitty litter bits will stick to your shoes, so no matter how much you'd like to leave it behind, a line or a note or phrase will follow you home and climb into bed with you. That's the way Justin's songs work. Songs about cards, water, love, politics, jealousy, youth, friendship, sin, and drinking, all crafted with a care that reveals itself on repeated listens.
