In anticipation of Japan's reintroduction of the jury system in 2009, join us for a unique seminar on the jury trial system at the Federal District Court of Northern California. The Honorable Takahiro Nonaka, Legal Attache at the Embassy of Japan and a former Tokyo District Court judge, along with the Honorable Robert Mitsuhiro Takasugi, a Senior Federal District Court Judge, and Richard Young, an American attorney, will address the respective US and Japanese jury trial systems.
The program includes an optional behind-the-scenes tour of the courthouse, including a judge's chambers and jury deliberation room. It will be in English with explanations and Q&A in Japanese, as necessary. The fees cover seminar, tour, & bento lunches by Delica. This event is cosponsored by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California and generously supported by Bowman and Brooke LLP.
Pre-registration is required for this program. Please register by Thursday, June 7th. Note: Photo I.D. required to enter the Courthouse.
