July 10th, starting at 6:00 pm, experience VOCA Art Gallery’s latest visually evocative show entitled “Unexposed Art/Clothesline Exhibit” featuring emerging local artist Michael Lande. VOCA Art Gallery is located at 215 Ocean Front Walk, at Rose Ave. in Venice.
Dianne Neuman, artist and creator of VOCA Art Gallery is excited to welcome Michael Lande to be a part of VOCA’s next show. Neuman’s vision for the gallery is to expose exceptional art to the community and provide a venue for emerging artists to show their work. VOCA Art Gallery exhibits contemporary work ranging from representation to pure abstraction. Irrespective of medium, VOCA focuses on artists whose work challenges traditionally held notions about whether through approach, material use or content. www.vocaartgallery.com. 310-866-2722.
Michael Lande met Dianne Neuman recently and struck up an immediate kinship. Michael is very excited to show her latest works in such a supportive artistic atmosphere. Unlike most artists, Lande has a business side. In fact she has made her mark in a big way in the business world; she co-founded one of the early telecommunications companies which she steered into national prominence, earning her an induction to Who’s Who of American Woman, Who’s Who in Industry and Finance, and Notable Americans of the Bicentennial Era.
Enrolling in an art class at Santa Monica Emeritus College for first time in 2001, Lande exceeded her own expectations by being one of few selected in a juried art show and given a prime location at the Broadway Deli in Santa Monica. In a citywide vote on what people liked best, Michael Lande’s art was ranked third.
Lande continued her art studies with an incredibly enlightened teacher, Linda Jacobson, and through her encouragement Michael’s art developed rapidly. Michael Lande puts a fresh twist on the “how to” of painting and has found some fascinating approaches. Working with a loose canvas thrown on the floor, Lande chooses not to use brushes, but pours acrylic paint onto the canvas, instead using rags to create. It’s a spontaneous burst of instinct and the piece is finished in an hour or so. Michael’s latest creative endeavor is working with hand towels which she has found to be fascinating canvases.
Come experience this innovative show, “Unexposed Art/Clothesline Exhibit,” this Saturday July 10th from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
