The popular annual Julian Wildflower Show will be held Thursday, May 7 through Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and will feature more than 100 colorful varieties of regional wildflowers. The flowers are hand picked from private properties in the local mountains and deserts and beautifully displayed in the Town Hall of Julian, California, a historic mining town in the mountains of San Diego.
The free show is organized by the Julian Women's Club and will feature educational programs and books for sale on wildflowers and landscaping with drought-tolerant and native plants. Packets of poppy seeds and wildflower seed mix will also be sold.
The Julian Wildflower Show will provide a special educational opportunity for schools. This year, docent tours of the show will be offered to school groups on Thursday and Friday, May 7 and 8. Local residents will explain how the flowers are gathered and displayed.
Gardeners, hikers, photographers and artists will love this show. Bring mom on Sunday and enjoy a Mother's Day brunch at one of Julian's local eateries. For more information, visit the Julian Chamber of Commerce Web site at: www.julianca.com.
