Join us for an evening with renowned artist Judy Chicago in conversation with Maura Reilly, Founder and former Curator of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum; Jenni Sorkin, PhD Candidate in the History of Art at Yale University and essayist for the exhibition catalogue for WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution; and Allyson Mitchell, artist, activist, and Guest Curator of the Textile Museum of Canada exhibition When Women Rule the World: Judy Chicago in Thread. They will discuss the hands-on feminism of Judy Chicago: Sorkin will contextualize Chicago’s work within contemporary feminist art, Reilly will discuss the installation of Chicago’s monumental piece “The Dinner Party” at the Brooklyn Museum, and Chicago will elaborate on the process of creating her textile-based work—from developing concept and mechanics to coordinating a community of needleworkers. Mitchell will moderate the discussion.
