A waitress who idolizes Dolly Parton, her rival co-worker, and their eccentric boss are all changed forever when a stranger's car breaks down in their sleepy Southern town in "Journey to Dollywood," an imaginative and off beat new comedy. The presence of a young stranger in the local diner sets off a chain of events that leads Jolene, a small-town waitress who reveres Dolly Parton, on a journey of self-discovery. Dolly Parton liked the script so much that she recorded a voiceover for the play and hopes to attend a performance this fall. In June, playwright Jessie McCormack, who also plays Jolene, visited Parton at her recording studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The cast also includes Melissa Greenspan as Cici, Jolene's ditzy co-worker; Erik Van Wyck as Manny, their idiosyncratic, Brooklyn born-and-bred boss; and Henry Gummer as Josh, the unassuming outsider who stumbles into this strange, funny world.
