Elenora "Rukiya" Brown is a doll artist who studied textiles and design in London. Her latest figures are made in honor of the women of Congo who are being gruesomely raped in a drawn-out ethnic war that originally spilled over from the Rwandan genocide. The eyes of these dolls are made from shards of mirror. When asked why, Rukiya explains, "To show that if it can happen to them, it can happen to you." Rukiya finds peace from the trials and tribulations of life in New Orleans post-Katrina when she is creating one of her magnificent soft sculptured iconic dolls. In this workshop, you, too, can create these powerful handwrapped sculptures. Cost : Members $12 Nonmembers $16
