This Monday, August 6, join mayoral candidate Josh Wolf at 111 Minna for a fundraiser to help raise the remaining money needed to secure his place on the ballot this November. Josh announced his candidacy last month and offers a much-needed alternative to business-as-usual; his innovative ideas as mayor have been profiled everywhere from Wired online to the San Francisco Chronicle, but in order for these visions to take route he must raise the $5,000 necessary to secure his position on the ballot. Josh will be speaking about his vision for participatory politics in San Francisco and on hand to discuss the city’s future. Doors open at 6:30PM, Music starts at 7:00PM and feature, Fuckwolf, The Greening and Nick Culp. 111 Minna, August 6.

Fuckwolf is the quintessential San Francisco underground band whose experimental music and dub defy the genre of rock. With a rabid cult following, and members who are talented in the art of chaos and melody, their riotous performances are always teetering on that fragile precipice between explosive improvised sets and pensive dissonance.

The Greening's mission statement is to push pop music to new frontiers through their blend of accessible experimentation. Combining memorable hooks, strong melodies and cascading vocal harmonies, the band craft instantly memorable songs. However, the radio friendly nature of the songwriting disguises its underlying complexity. Surprise bridges, unexpected arrangements/time signatures, and well thought out production all unite to enhance the compositions in an integrated fashion.

Nick Culp is a classically trained pianist whose raw aesthetics and jazz influences incorporate his sexy brand of electronica into an industrial collage of cultural influences. Both cerebral and melancholy, lighthearted and spontaneous, his music veers away from the predictability of duple meter and digresses into a dark surrender of analog and digital sounds.
