On October 4th the DMV area will be fortunate enough to have two of the hottest national touring reggae acts from the United States visit northern Virginia and join forces with the 2010 Virginia Reggae Awards "Best New Artist" award winner, the Dub City Renegades to perform at Jammin Java (Ranked as one of the top 100 clubs in the world according to ticket sales by Pollstar Magazine).
Josh Heinrichs ( http://joshheinrichs.com ) was formerly the lead singer of Jah Roots, one of the most successful American reggae bands in the past decade! In 2009 Josh went solo and has had tons of success on his own. On May 17, 2011 "Jah Roots" was released internationally on GanJah Records. The acoustically driven album that Heinrichs called "A collection of his favorite songs from the albums he wrote while in the band, Jah Roots" debuted as Amazon's #1 Hottest Selling Reggae Album & at #6 on iTunes(USA) Top 200 Best Selling Reggae Albums.
Mike Pinto ( http://mikepintomusic.com ) has crafted an exceptional style of songwriting, with a truly unique take on Roots, Vintage Rock, Reggae, Ska and Classic Surf, but it’s his distinct voice and seamless storytelling that has brought him success both in the States and overseas. Pinto’s music quickly traveled out of the continental States and can be found on Japanese compilations, on Hawaii's top radio stations by huge supporter and top radio personality Shaggy Jenkins as well as topping charts in Guam. As in Pinto fashion, the hype was followed up with tours where he sold out shows in Guam, Big Island, Maui and Oahu, creating even more buzz in the wakes.
The Dub City Renegades ( http://dubcityrenegades.com ) have been one of northern Virginia's hottest reggae bands since 2008. Ever the road warriors, DCR performed over 150 shows solely in the DMV area in their first year and a half as a band. In 2009 the band also did a mini-tour of Costa Rica as part of Rainforest Aid 09 and instantly became a name among reggae fans in the country. DCR is about to release their first self-titled EP and looking forward to expanding their grasp on reggae fans worldwide!
The show takes places October 4, 2011 with doors opening at 7PM at Jammin Java ( http://jamminjava.com ) in Vienna, Virginia. Jammin Java is an all-ages venue which makes this a great early show for families. Tickets are available for $12 online from Jammin Java at http://jamminjava.com/home/events/mike-pinto
We look forward to seeing you at the show!
