Brooklyn, NY: Roulette presents Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition winner Jon Irabagon’s Threedom Trio, featuring seasoned, accomplished master musicians Barry Altschul and Joe Fonda. These three powerhouse performers bring a wealth of acclaim and experience to the table with careers that have spanned the globe and in the case of Altschul and Fonda, many successful generations.
The Jon Irabagon Threedom Trio incorporates the complete jazz lineage, from rag time to no time. This all-inclusive approach utilizes standards, changes, forms and melodies as well as noises, calls, cries and sounds to create a sound that is both familiar and new simultaneously. Altschul and Fonda's longtime partnership in the FAB Trio (with the late Billy Bang), coupled with Irabagon and Altschul's recent work together (Foxy, Hot Cup Records) leads to a cohesive unit that explores proactive group interaction with both delicacy and fire.
