JON CUTLER (Distant Music)
Jon’s dedication started when he was a teenager, a familiar face regularly seen in many of the underground clubs in New York City. In the early 80’s Jon began his exposure djing mostly at local neighborhood house parties, which eventually led him to spin in clubs. As DJing often does, it eventually led to Jon producing and creating his collection of essential studio equipment. After working at an independent record label for two years, he grasped the knowledge of the industry and was ready to advance. His sense of business surfaced in 1996 when he finally decided to start his own label, Distant Music. The main goal here was to launch a powerful catalogue without losing focus of his productions. Soon after he displayed his evolving talent with productions such as “You Groove Me”, “Fluttie Pebbles” and others under Distant Music. He’d since teamed up with dance music luminaries and vocalists, creating phenomenal original productions for his own imprint as well as for UK’s MN2S and Papa Records, Chez Music, and 83 West, among others. In 2001, Jon produced the smash, “It’s Yours”, for Chez Music, which quickly cultivated into a club anthem reaching the 1 spot in DJ Magazine’s Hype Chart, 29 in the overall UK pop charts, as well as played by club and radio djs in practically every country on Earth. Since then Jon has been committed to releasing quality house music. His remix credits are a testament to his dedication having recreated works by Kerri Chandler (King Street Sounds), Copyright (Defected Records), Kim English (Nervous Records), Bob Sinclar (Yellow), Tortured Soul (Central Park Recordings), and a ton more, into phenomenal pieces of Dance Music. In addition he’s had five stellar mixed compilations released on Soulstar, MN2S, Kinky Sweet, Concaept Music, and Distant Music. In between his hectic schedule that involves traveling around the world every weekend to places like M2 Club (South Korea), Stereo Sushi (Belgium), the revered Southport Weekender (UK), El Divino (Ibiza, Spain), Glam (Mauritius), Follies Pigalle (Paris, France), Zouk Fest (Kuala Lampur), and too many others to mention, Jon humbly finds haven in the safety and comfort of his studio. This is a man who truly puts his heart and soul into every production and performance. Celebrating TWENTY plus years in the business, Jon Cutler hopes to maintain the ability to inject his signature soulful flavor into House Music while continuing to inspire the thousands of up and coming producers and DJ’s he’s already influenced throughout the years.
BEN TOM (Temple Music Group, SSM)
While some artists find strength in the world around them, others source it from within. It’s that kind of internal poise that’s led DJ and producer Ben Tom (a.k.a. Durben) from the legendary days of Northern California’s late 1990s underground rave scene to residencies and countless performances at San Francisco’s hottest clubs to his current role with Temple SF, the innovative SoMA headquarters of Temple nightclub, the Temple Music Group and Prana Restaurant.
