Pottstown, Pennsylvania 19464

On Sunday, January 23rd, at 1 P.M. at Pottsgrove Manor, Potts and Rutter family historian Dan Graham will discuss the life of John Potts, Jr., one of Pottstown’s most fascinating residents.

John Potts, Jr. was the third son of ironmaster, assemblyman, and founder of Pottstown, John Potts. Unlike his other siblings, he supported the British Crown during the Revolutionary War. This support cost him his property, wealth, and standing in the community. A rich ironmaster and London-trained lawyer at the outbreak of the war, he died in disgrace and poverty. Come to Pottsgrove Manor for “John Potts, Jr.: Ironmaster, Judge, Loyalist” to hear his story and learn why he made the choices he did.

A guided tour of the manor house, including the current exhibit “So Long and Toilsome a Journey: Transportation in Colonial Pennsylvania,” will be offered after the presentation.

A donation of $2 per person is suggested for the lecture and tour. In case of inclement weather, this program may be rescheduled. Please call the site for more information.
