John Philip Sousa's "The American Maid" (a semi-staged concert) September 7, 2012

This humorous operetta is crammed full of class warfare between snooty socialites and rugged working people, and real warfare -- the Spanish-American War. Also known as "The Glass Blowers", the work had faded into oblivion for nearly a century until Sousa's glorious music was rediscovered and it was successfully revived in 2000.
