Edward Gorey's darkly whimsical book 'The Gashlycrumb Tinies,' has become a modern classic. This book, a dismal and gory, take on a children's alphabet book, is filled with the artist's signature drawings and small verses corresponding to the letters of the alphabet. John Duboise is proposing a set of 26 original songs inspired by the verses and Gorey's drawings. Written for an ensemble consisting of violins, viola, cello, bass clarinet, bells and percussion, the piece will be accompanied by imagery from the book.
