Women & Their Work is pleased to present a solo exhibition by San Antonio artist Joey Fauerso titled Wide Open Wide. In this multi-media exhibition, Fauerso explores the world of animation. Her captivating frame-by-frame paintings come alive as they move across the screen and interact with each other. Influenced by her year-long residency in Roswell, NM, Fauerso’s paintings evoke a sense of space. From the vast night sky to a man opening his mouth, the spaces Fauerso creates seamlessly morph into one another and present contradictory perspectives. Along side the projected animations will hang the hundreds of paintings from which the projection was made, giving the viewer yet another perspective.
Fauerso earned an MFA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BFA from the University of Iowa- Iowa City. Her work has been featured in many regional and national art spaces including; Amarillo Museum of Art, DiverseWorks, Finesilver Gallery, Pulse Contemporary Art Fair in Miami, FL and the Roswell Museum of Art. Fauerso received grants and residencies from the Dallas Museum of Art, The Golden Foundation, and Ucross Foundation. She currently resides in Roswell, NM where she has been an artist in residence for the past year.
