Daisy Gamble (Streisand), an unusual woman who hears phones before they ring and does wonders with her flowers, wants to quit smoking to please her fiancé. She goes to a doctor of hypnosis to do it. But once she's under, her psychiatrist (Montand) finds out that she can regress into past lives and different personalities, and he finds himself falling in love with one of them.

Joel Grey received an Oscar, Golden Globe and British Academy Award for his role as the iconic Emcee in Kander and Ebb's Cabaret. From his dramatic stage performances in The Normal Heart, John Patrick Shanley's A Fool and Her Fortune, and Give Me Your Answer, Do!, to film credits including Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark, Joel Grey has exhibited an extraordinary range in disparate roles. He is also an accomplished photographer whose work is part of the permanent collections at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the New York Public Library.
