After a 50-year career, this founding member of the Jazz Crusaders is among the world’s best jazz pianists, keyboardists and composers today. He’s recorded about 20 original albums with the Crusaders and as a solo artist, but he didn’t stop there. Over the years he’d drop by the studio and record with musicians like Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan and the Supremes. Sample studied with the great organ master Curtis Mayo and from that point on, he’s worked to keep the jazz spirit alive. From contemporary jazz to ragtime, gospel and R&B, alone or with a band, his talents are vast. Sample is an old soul, a classy showman and a gentleman-- he’ll feel right at home on StageOne.

“When one thinks of Joe Sample, he has to be one of the last great contemporary jazz pianists of his time. His longevity, talent and passionate embrace of jazz has allowed him to re-introduce the "intuitive spirit that comes from within" the hearts and souls of influences who have made their jazz passage.” - JazzReview.com
