Joanna Newsom & the LSO January 19, 2007

A spellbinding singer-songwriter and classically trained harpist, Joanna Newsom's music weaves gothic storytelling with ethereal melodies.

Her distinctive harp playing and naive vocal style encompass influences from the folk and Appalachian music of her heritage to avant garde modernism and the rhythms of Africa but remains uniquely her own. Tonight she will be joined by the LSO playing arrangements by Van Dyke Parks from her latest critically acclaimed album Ys (Drag City)

Alasdair Roberts opens the concert with a solo acoustic set.
