Some time ago the cultural world start to take notice of the emerging musical direction known as “freak folk”, influenced by jazz and the music of the late 1960s. The most important representative of this new direction is the 25 year old harpist Joanna Newsom.
Even though it could be said this new direction is a strictly American affair, Joanna has built a world wide reputation as an indisputably great talent. She belongs to the same “party” as Coco Rosie and Antony and the Johnsons and in her voice and expression you can hear the influences of Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Bjork.
Joanna is setting off on a world tour, the European part of which will culminate with an already sold out concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
On the 14th September she will be appearing in the Czech Republic, at Prague’s Archa Theatre. Her concert will without a doubt be a big event for promoters of new talent, but, of course, not just for them!
