Jim Palana was born in Newport,RI and grew up as part of the vibrant folk music community in southeastern New England during the 60's and 70's. He has performed on stages in the United States and Europe, and may be one of the few performers to ever play his trade on a German trolley car. He continues to play his own songs and also pay tribute to the songwriters who influenced him in his youth, such as Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Gordon Lightfoot, Tim Hardin, Fred Neil, Paul Seibel, and Jerry Jeff Walker. A Jim Palana song usually tells a story in a simple, understated way, often with a touch of wry humor.
Jim made his first recording BACK IN TOWN in 1983, his second; STORIES AND TRUTH in 1996, and released his latest CD, HERE AND GONE in 2003. As far as his recording career goes, he feels he is becoming more efficient.
