Jill Scott made a name for herself by collaborating with the Roots on 'You Got Me,' a Top 40 pop hit in 1999. Scott released her debut album, 'Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1,' in July 2000, scoring a hit with 'A Long Walk.' 'Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2' came in 2004. Scott is touring behind her latest, 'The Real Thing: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3.'

Jill Scott is hella talented! I love good music, but lyrics are everything to me. Jill's lyrics are poetry. What she sings about is just so relevant. Then they are set to beautiful music. I started not to go because the Boutwell leaves much to be desired as a venue. But, hell why should Jill suffer for The Ham's shortcomings? I got seats on the floor so I don't have to squeeze my hips in those tiny seats and be way too close to the stranger next to me, nor sit with my knees in my chest, nor have get up everytime someone moves. I'm looking forward to having a great time.
