The Chaim Kempner Author Series Presents:
Edward Kritzler, author of
Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean
Jamaica-based writer Edward Kritzler takes readers on an adventurous and illuminating journey with Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean: How a Generation of Swashbuckling Jews Carved Out an Empire in the New World in Their Quest for Treasure, Religious Freedom--and Revenge.
Descendents of Spanish Jewish exiles, these Jews had an adventurous spirit that took them deep into the world of trading and pirating. In boats with names like The Queen Esther and Shield of Abraham, Jewish pirates attacked and plundered the Spanish fleet and formed alliances with European powers to ensure the safety of Jews living in hiding.
Edward Kritzler is a recognized authority on Jamaica and served on the Jamaica Tourist Board for ten years, during which he was in charge of arranging tours for members of the foreign press and broadcast media. He also served as Jamaica's film liaison officer, and was responsible for over a dozen feature films and network documentaries.
ASL interpretation available upon request.
Supported by the Chaim Kempner Collection Library Fund, the Chaim Kempner Author Series brings authors of recently published books to the 16th Street J for the learning and enjoyment of the entire community.
