March 1-29, Monday-Saturday, 10:30am-5:30pm; Opening Reception: Thursday March 3rd, 5-7:30pm
Union Square, San Francisco- February 1, 2011- Sandra Lee Gallery is honored to present a solo exhibition of paintings by Jeremy Morgan. The Exhibition will be on view at the gallery March 1-29, 2011. The public is welcome to attend the opening reception on Thursday March 3rd from 5:00-7:30 pm, where the artist will be in attendance to discuss his work.
Jeremy Morgan's large scale, landscape abstractions are alluring environments composed masterfully of color and contrast. Deep blues and greens are pierced by light, radiating from within darkness, giving the illusion of both an internal and external source. Bursts of reds and yellows are calmed by deep shadows bringing the canvas to life with undulating variation.
Viewers find themselves absorbed into the canvas, escaping the body and transcending limits of the tangible world. These works merge the physical with the spiritual, creation with destruction. As a young man, Morgan gained knowledge of the earth from his geographer father, and his adaptation to canvas was inevitable. These spectacular paintings draw us into a world that is the contemplation of nature, time, movement and space in relation to the creation of the earth.
A professor for twenty five years, currently at the San Francisco Art Institute, Morgan is a master of painting with numerous students, many active in the arts. We are proud to display the work of an artist who continues to evolve and maintains a dialogue within his paintings that incorporates both classic mastery and modern innovation alike.
